At this month's Coffee Corner, we'll look at reducing uncertainty of soil parameters using PLAXIS SensiPar.
When starting a geotechnical project, engineers usually do not have much soil data. They need to make a judgment with this limited amount of data while starting their initial design and analysis. In these early stages, engineers will rely on simplifications and correlations to determine the model parameters to run an analysis.
Still, some questions remain: How much is the result influenced by this choice? Can we learn from the analysis to reduce uncertainty? With the PLAXIS SensiPar (Sensitivity and Parameter variation) tool, we can get this information in the early stages of a project.
In this Coffee Corner, we will cover:
How to use the Sensitivity tool
How is the SensiScore determined
What does the Parameter Variation tool do
How can we decide on getting a more reliable result
